Topic: Vision of God’s Glory

Text: Ezekiel 1:15-28

Key Verse:”As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake” (Ezekiel 1:28).

God never calls anyone for a specific assignment without providing him with adequate tools with which to prosecute the task. Part of this tool may, in God’s wisdom and discretion, include the revelation of His glory to show His beauty, power, honour, presence, greatness and authority.

Daily Manna: Mastery of Purim

The vision Prophet Ezekiel saw brought home some eternal facts: first, that God is omnipresent and therefore, He was present in Babylon as well as Jerusalem. This is a comforting lesson and relief. Second, that the glory of the Lord referred to God in all His fullness and uniqueness especially in His interaction with man. Ezekiel saw the glory of the Lord as the appearance of fire together with its brightness round about. When he did, he said, “I fell upon my face”. This was his usual response whenever he was in the presence of God. This way, he demonstrated a reverential fear of God as the Creator of the heavens and the earth. This ought to be our lifestyle whenever we are in the presence of God.

Daily Manna: On Fire For God

This is not necessarily about physical genuflection, but about humility, respect and honour to God from our hearts. We must be seen to have reverence for His Name, word and house, and not do anything capable of bringing dishonour to Him. Those who have believed in Christ must be careful to maintain good works so that His Name is not blasphemed. We should bow before the Majesty and worship Him in the beauty of His holiness.

Thought for the day: To fully swell in God’s presence is to reflect His glory.
