A
social media backlash has trailed President Muhammadu Buhari’s plan to
sell the nation’s assets as a way of reviving the nation’s ailing economy
.

But
the Organized labour comprising of the Nigeria Labour Congress, (NLC)
Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and
Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) and Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff
Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) have warned that the government
would be playing with fire should it go ahead to sell the assets.
Though the minister of budget and planning Udoma Udo Udoma has said that
the federal government would not sell critical national assets, the
labour has insisted that a sale of the assets will trigger a mass revolt
and civil unrest that will be worse than the anti-SAP riots of 1989. MORE
