From our earlier report, 18-year-old Faith Pius died from wounds sustained when she was stabbed by a 26-year-old man identified as Tochukwu in a hotel room Biogbolo-Epie area of Yenagoa, Bayelsa State on Friday night.
The incident reportedly led to a clash between the indigenes and Igbo residents in the area.
A statement signed by the state commissioner for Information, Hon. Jonathan Obuebite has called on residents of the state to remain calm and avoid any further act that will disrupt the existing peace in the state as security agents intensify hunt of the suspected murderer of the teenager.
Also the information boss used the opportunity to dissuade the rumour making the rounds that the deceased was mutilated, he says it is untrue as the police commissioner has confirmed that the remains of the teenage girl was found intact.
More so the state Police Commissioner has assured the Bayelsa State Government that his men will stop at nothing to fish out the perpetrator(s) of the dastardly act and bring them to book.
He maintained that youths in the area should not use the incident to disrupt the peace of the state, he also urged residents of the Biogbolo area of Yenagoa to remain peaceful, law abiding and go about their lawful duties without any fear of molestation or discrimination as everything is being done to guarantee their safety.
