HALLOWEEN – A 4-year-old boy has died after he is thought to have fallen into a pond while celebrating Halloween with his family.
Jack Irvine – a “happy and loving” boy – was found unconscious in the fish pond in Northern Ireland.
The teen was rushed to hospital but was unable to be revived and died.
It is thought the youngster, named locally, drowned after falling into the water, while out with family and friends on October 31.
According to local media his parents, Karen and Eddie, realised he was missing and launched a frantic search for him.
Belfast Live reports a spokesman for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said they were called to reports a child had fallen into a pond and was unconscious.
He added: “We got the call at 9pm about the four-year-old and sent a rapid response paramedic to the scene.
“The child was taken to Antrim Area Hospital and resuscitation efforts continued on the way there but unfortunately the boy died.”
The youngster’s heartbroken dad told the Belfast Telegraph: “He was only gone for a moment.”
A fundraising page has been set up to help cover the funeral costs.
A statement on the website says: “Jack was a loving happy little boy who had so much to live for, we hope and pray that Karen, Eddie and Boys will be comforted by there loved ones at this sad time to help them try get over this tragic ordeal.
“Little Jack loved school and his friends, every morning he was skipping down the road to go play with his wee friends in his Pre School of Crumlin Integrated where he will also be sadly missed by all.”
