Nigeria vs Iceland: Saraki to cheer Eagles
Senate President, Bukola Saraki, is among top Nigerian dignitaries who will attend the Super Eagles’ crucial Group D encounter against Iceland in Volgograd on Friday.
It’s part of efforts by the Nigerian government to fire the national team to victory after they lost their opening group game to Croatia 2-0 in Kaliningrad on June 16.
Other dignitaries expected to watch the game are the Ambassador of Nigeria to the Russian Federation, Professor Steve Ugbah, the Permanent Secretary in the sports ministry, Olusade Adesola, Nigeria Olympic Committee head, Habu Gumel and members of the Nigeria Football Federation Executive Committee led by the president, Amaju Pinnick.
Meanwhile, the Eagles have arrived in Volgograd. They flew in from their Essentuki base on Thursday morning and settled in their Hampton-by-Hilton Volgograd Hotel abode a little after 1pm local time (11am Nigerian time), according to a media statement from the Communication Department of the Nigerian Football Federation.
