A teenager has appeared in court charged with murder, rape and arson after a woman’s body was found in a burning flat.

Curtis Moyse, 18, appeared before Leicester Magistrates’ Court on Saturday following the death of Leah Fray, 27.

Moyse, of Leicester, is charged with the murder of Ms Fray in a flat at Mere Road, Leicester on April 21.

He is also charged with arson with intent to endanger life and rape on the same day.

Moyse spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and British nationality, and showed no emotion during the hearing which lasted around five minutes, Leicestershire Live reports.

The teen was dressed in a grey tracksuit during the hearing.

He did not enter a plea to any of the charges.

Karen Grewcock, chair of the bench, adjourned the case to Leicester Crown Court on Monday.

Moyse was remanded in custody.

Sabrina Sohota appeared for the Crown while Shanaz Patel represented Moyse.
