The giant TV star, Peggy Lipton who is best known for her roles in the television series Mod Squad and Twin Peaks has died. She died following a battle with cancer at the age of 72.
Peggy Lipton died surrounded by her family, daughters Rashida and Kidada Jones, according to a statement released by her children.
“We are heartbroken that our beloved mother passed away from cancer today. She made her journey peacefully with her daughters and nieces by her side. We feel so lucky for every moment we spent with her. We can’t put all of our feelings into words right now but we will say: Peggy was, and will always be our beacon of light, both in this world and beyond. She will always be a part of us.”
Peggy Lipton also had a singing career. Lipton’s career began in modeling when she was just a teen. He performance as one of three undercover “hippie cops” in groundbreaking series The Mod Squad in the 1960s got her Emmy nominations and a Golden Globe win in 1971.
She also starred as Norma Jennings in David Lynch’s TV series, Twin Peaks, in the 1990s.
