BASIC SCRIPTURE: Psalm 78
ODM Devotional 22 August 2021 Message:
Refer to the story of the young INQUISITIVE GIRL of yesterday’s devotional and how she BROKE the LIMITED THINKING of her parents! Listen: The biggest limit to the blessings of God that you enjoy in your life is your receiving capacity.
Just think of a village where they rely solely on a nearby stream for their water. The stream never runs dry! People will go to that village stream with all sorts of containers. Some with a cup, some with a small bowl, some with a large bucket and some others with a big drum. The stream will never say, “Your container is too big, I am not giving you more than this…” No!
The container that you bring to the stream is what determines what you will leave the stream with! God is no different. If you approach God with a ‘bowl-sized’ expectation, you may never get more than a bowl of blessings. If you approach him with a “large tank-size” expectation, He will definitely not turn you back.
The Bible says in James 1:5 that God is a “giving God” that gives to all men LIBERALLY, and upbraideth not. This means that God will give and give and give until you are tired of receiving. He will never turn off His tap of blessings on you as long as your switch of expectation is turned on! I want to beseech you today, stop limiting God.
Look at what the people of Israel did as recorded in today’s study scripture(Vs.41): “They limited the Holy One of Israel…” How did they limit God? They forgot the great things He did for them in the past. They were so overwhelmed by the challenges of the present that they refused to recognise that the God who fought for them years ago was still as strong and mighty as ever.
When you look at God through the eyes of your challenges, He becomes insignificant. You will never be able to trust Him as you should do. But when you look at your challenges through the eyes of God, the challenges become insignificant.
The limitations are taken away, and God is able to work great wonders in your life. It is time to remove all limits and boundaries. Don’t put God in a formula! He is MORE THAN ENOUGH! Hold on! Hold out!
