Arsenal in trouble as Bayern Munich ready to make Alexis Sanchez their highest paid player

Arsenal’s hopes of keeping Alexis Sanchez this summer have been dented after Bayern Munich chiefs sanctioned a £21.7m-a-year offer for the Chilean.

The Bundesliga giants are heavily interested in the forward and are reported to have met with Sanchez’s agent last month in Germany.

The 28-year-old has 12 months to run on his deal at the Emirates and Premier League rivals Manchester City are also interested in signing the former Barcelona man.

Sanchez’s hefty wage demands threatened to scupper a move to Germany but, according to Kicker, Bayern have decided to break their salary barrier to sign him.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side are prepared to offer Sanchez an astonishing £21.7m-a-year, meaning he would be the highest paid player in the club’s history.

Sanchez’s wages would far exceed the likes of Robert Lewandowski, who earns around £16m-a-year.
