Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15 (NLT)

TOPIC: Idolatry And Arrogance Lead to Downfall

OPENING PRAYER: Dear Lord, may the entrance of your word bring light and life to all I will do today.

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY: 2 Chronicles 25:1‐28

QUESTION FOR REFLECTION
• Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
• Is there any warning for me to heed?

SCRIPTURE UNION DAILY GUIDE 27 NOVEMBER 2022 MESSAGE

He did what was right in the Lord’s eyes? In repaying those who conspired to kill his father (24:26), king Amaziah resolved to obey God’s law (vs.3‐4; cf., Deuteronomy 24:16). In doing so, he demonstrated a readiness to follow God’s law. This is further seen in vs.5‐10 where Amaziah gladly listened to and obeyed the advice of the man of God. Undoubtedly, at this stage of his reign, he valued God’s word more than money.

As a result, God gave him victory over his enemies, the Edomites. ?but not wholeheartedly Notice what king Amaziah found to be of greatest value after defeating the Edomites (v.14). What could have prompted his heart to do this? God, out of His mercies, gave him a chance to change. He sent a prophet to him (v.15), but how did Amaziah handle the prophet? Notice how the king’s foolish action brought disaster on the whole nation (vs.21‐24). How we need to pray earnestly for our leaders!
