The surgery is sponsored by the Bayelsa State Government through the office of the First Lady, Dr. (Mrs.) Rachel Dickson who presented the cheque of N6m and travelling documents to the parents of Baby Oyintari in Government House.

Earlier in February this year, the media was awash with the story of circumcision gone bad where his step grand-father allegedly chopped off the genital organ of the baby boy.

NGOs that raised alarm over the incident include the International Federation of Women Lawyers, FIDA, Bayelsa State branch and Face Initiative.

The NGOs visited the baby at the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa and presented cash to support the parents to provide immediate medical treatment for the boy before lodging a petition at the Bayelsa State Police Command for the immediate arrest of the step grand father.
Mr. Amba Asuquo, Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State gave immediate orders for his arrest.
