Rough night? Donald Trump angrily ripped up his notes following his final debate against Hillary Clinton in Las Vegas on Wednesday, October 19, before he even walked off the stage.
The GOP presidential candidate, 70, appeared agitated as he tore one page out of his pad, on which there were several notes written in black ink. He began to grind his teeth but quickly composed himself once he made eye contact with someone in the audience.
Trump’s awkward behavior was caught on camera, but didn’t go viral until hours after he left the University of Nevada campus. “Angry Trump ripping his notes out of his notepad at the end of last night’s debate is a microcosm of his demeanor this entire election,” one viewer tweeted on Thursday.
A second added: “Trump cowering behind lectern, struggling to rip a piece of paper from his notepad with his tiny hands, afraid to face his opponent. Sad!”
Others even imagined what he jotted down. While some joked that he repeatedly wrote his last name and the word “wrong,” another said he probably doodled hearts.
Despite his frustration, Trump thought that he did well during the showdown. “That was really exciting. Made all of my points. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” the mogul tweeted afterward, later citing a Washington Post story that said he won the debate.
