The National and State Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abia state has canceled the election of Orji Uzor Kalu as the Senator representing Abia North.
The tribunal has also directed for a rerun election for the Abia North Senatorial District.
Mao Ohuabunwa, Kalu’s PDP rival in the election, had disputed his victory at the tribunal. Kalu, who is currently the senate chief whip, had been elected under APC.
The INEC had earlier announced Kalu, who contested under the platform of the All Progressives Congress to represent Abia North Senatorial District at the federal legislature as the winner of that election but in its judgement on Monday, the tribunal upturned that verdict.
