Biafra News : IPOB members will overwhelm police, if they attack them again – Nnamdi Kanu

Biafra News – The leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu, says members of his group will confront officers of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) if they are attacked again.

Kanu, who resurfaced in Jerusalem, Israel on 19 October after the military invasion of his community in Abia state, was quoted to have made this statement by a pro-Biafra activist, Emeka Gift.

Premium News24 reports that the statement of the IPOB leader is coming after members of his group clashed with officers of the Nigerian Police during its procession last week in Nnewi, Anambra State.

Speaking on the incident, the Anambra Police command said a policeman died in the protest while a Divisional Police Officer in the area was hospitalised following injuries sustained in the clash. It was learned that IPOB members also sustained injuries.

In the wake of the attack, the Anambra state police command arrested 33 suspected IPOB members and paraded them on Sunday.

The Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, also directed an urgent recovery of two AK47 rifles and a Berretta piston allegedly snatched from a slain police officer and others by suspected the IPOB members.

Reacting to the clash, Kanu said members of his group will continue to march, noting that he would instruct his boys to “overwhelm them” (police officers) if they attack them (IPOB members) again.

“IPOB will continue to march, if Nigeria police attack our people again I will instruct our boys to overwhelm them, if they attack us again we shall confront them,” Emeka Gift quoted Kanu to have said after the clash.
