TOPIC: The Charge to Hallow Him
TEXT: Leviticus 22:26-33
26. And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
27. When a bullock, or a sheep, or a goat, is brought forth, then it shall be seven days under the dam; and from the eighth day and thenceforth it shall be accepted for an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
28. And whether it be cow or ewe, ye shall not kill it and her young both in one day.
29. And when ye will offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving unto the LORD, offer it at your own will.
30. On the same day it shall be eaten up; ye shall leave none of it until the morrow; I am the LORD.
31. Therefore shall ye keep my commandments, and do them; I am the LORD.
32. Neither shall ye profane my holy name; but I will be hallowed among the children of Israel; I am the LORD which hallow you,
33. That brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God; I am the LORD.

DCLM Daily Manna 6th December 2020 MESSAGE:
Dave Hunt, an American Christian apologist and radio commentator, defended the Gospel of Jesus Christ all his life. He held a belief that no other god should be worshipped than the Lord of hosts. In different works he authored, Hunt did critiques of Catholicism, Islam, Mormonism, andCalvinism. In one of his books, he said: “Worship is the heart poured out in gratitude and awe, expressing our appreciation for who He is and what He has done for us.”
Our passage portrays God’s standard laws and ordinances concerning the priests’ services to God and His people. Profanity of any form was not to be tolerated. And now at the end of chapter 22, the priests and the entire Israel were charged to hallow the holy name of God who had also hallowed them unto Himself by bringing them out of the land of Egypt. Hallowing the name of the most high God was to be a continuous service among the children of Israel.
This charge is not restricted to the Old Testament. Also, Christ our Lord reaffirmed it in the New Testament. In Matthew 6:9, Christ says: “After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.” Likewise, believers must hallow the name of the most high God. This entails honouring and reverencing Him regularly for whom He is. His authority, dominion and His name must not be used derogatorily. We should hallow Him for His supernatural works at creation and His redemption plan for mankind.
We must hallow Him for our initial, continuous and final salvation to glory (Hebrews 7:25), and also for His sure promises concerning our provision, protection, preservation and guidance all through our lifetime.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Hallowing God is a divine charge, not men’s opinion.
