An England football fan died in Sofia ahead of tonight’s Euro 2020 qualifier against Bulgaria.
The country’s Interior Ministry confirmed his death, saying the 32-year-old was found in a ‘helpless condition’ in the city centre.
A spokeswoman for the Bulgarian Ministry also confirmed the news to Mirror Online: “The incident took place at 10am today. He is a British citizen, 32 years old, at 10am and he was taken to hospital but he has died and the police are now working to clarify all the circumstances.
“He was found at the centre of the city, in the street. He was found in a helpless condition.”
The cause of death is currently unknown but local reports confirmed that police are investigating whether the fan was under the influence of drink or drugs.
