Imo: 26 lawmakers reportedly defect to APC

The All Progressives Congress appears to have solidified its political grip on Imo state following reports that 26 legislators out of the 27 lawmakers in the state Assembly have already defected to the ruling party.

Chiji Collins, the speaker of the Imo state House of Assembly told APC supporters at a rally in the state on Saturday, February 1, said all legislators in the House would soon become APC members, The Nation reports.

He stated that the lawmakers have unanimously agreed to work with Governor Hope Uzodinma to ensure the success of the state.

“As at last night, we have 26 lawmakers who have declared for APC, and by next week, I assure you that soon the 27 will all be for APC. Wait till the next plenary when all of them will officially defect,” he said.

“We are ready to support the Governor because he is ready to turn this State around”

He told his listeners at the rally that the government of Uzodinma would transform the state in the next six months.
