Iran Executes Alleged Mossad Spy as Espionage Crackdown Widens
Iran has executed Majid Mosayebi, a man convicted of collaborating with Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency, according to the state-affiliated Tasnim news agency.
Mosayebi was accused of attempting to transfer “sensitive information” to Israel. The Iranian judiciary, through Mizan Online, confirmed that he was hanged after exhausting all legal appeals, including a final ruling from Iran’s Supreme Court.
The timeline of Mosayebi’s arrest remains undisclosed.
The execution comes amid a sweeping crackdown on suspected Israeli-linked spy networks across Iran. Over the weekend, police in Qom province announced the arrest of 22 individuals allegedly connected to Israeli intelligence, accused of espionage, spreading propaganda, and supporting the “criminal Zionist regime.”
Further arrests followed on Sunday in Kermanshah, western Iran, where three more individuals were detained on similar charges. Notably, one of the detainees reportedly holds citizenship from a European country.
Judiciary spokesperson Asghar Jahangir credited the arrests to public cooperation with security forces and confirmed the creation of special judicial branches to fast-track espionage cases under “extraordinary procedures.”
The developments signal rising tensions and growing fears within Tehran over foreign intelligence operations on Iranian soil.
