MFM Daily Devotional 18 November 2021 Outline
Holiness means purity. God is holy and wants us to be holy too at all times. God will not compromise His holiness. To be holy is to be separated from sin, immorality and all forms of abominable acts and to be consecrated to God. 1 Chronicles 16:29 commands us to worship God in the beauty of holiness which means that we should not come to God unclean.
Hebrews 12:14 says that without holiness no man shall see the Lord. For us to make heaven and reign with Christ, we must be given to a life of holiness. The highway of holiness is the path we must take to live and maintain a holy life. As Christians, we are crucified with Christ and we must have His nature.
The Bible calls us the light of the world (Matthew 5:14-16). This implies that we must be good ambassadors of Christ anywhere we go. If you have backslidden, you need to reconcile with Him by confessing your sins and asking for forgiveness. In 2 Corinthians 5:21, Apostle Paul tells us that Jesus who knew no sin was made sin for us so that we can become righteous in God.
1 John 2:1 says that Jesus is our Advocate with the Father and the Propitiation for our sins and for the sins of the whole world. The highway of holiness may be difficult to tread because it is narrow. There is no room for lawlessness. The Bible calls it the narrow way. Jesus admonishes us to take the narrow way and avoid the broad way which leads to destruction.
Jesus Himself represents the highway of holiness. In John 14:6, He says, “I am the way, the truth and the life and no man can come to the Father without me.” Galatians 5:22 itemises the qualities of Christians who are on the highway of holiness. They are love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance (self-control).
Above all, the highway to holiness is brokenness and being crucified with Christ.
MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE: All that glitters is not gold. There is a way that seemeth right but the end thereof is destruction.
PROPHETIC WORD: The Spirit of the Lord shall lighten up your ways, in the name of Jesus.
HYMN: Holy, holy, holy!
1. Holy, holy, holy!
Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning
Our song shall rise to Thee:
Holy, holy, holy!
Merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons,
blessed Trinity!
2. Holy, holy, holy!
all the saints adore Thee,
Casting down their golden crowns
around the glassy sea;
Cherubim and seraphim
Falling down before Thee,
Which wert and art and
evermore shalt be.
3. Holy, holy, holy!
though the darkness hide Thee,
Though the eye of sinful man
Thy glory may not see;
Only Thou art to holy
there is none beside Thee,
Perfect in pow’r, in love and purity.
