God has done His own duty through the redemption of man. The redeemed man or woman (a Christian) also owes God the duty to grow into the image of Christ (Hebrews 9:14). From our Fire Scripture for today (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14), the conclusion of the preacher is that the whole duty of a man is to fear God and obey his commandment. Solomon was an anointed king of Israel, a prophet of God. He was anointed by God to rule over Israel. He can be described as that man that saw it all and had it all. He had fame, prosperity, power, riches, wisdom, yet he died an unfulfilled man. He discovered later in his life that the whole essence of living is to fear God and obey his commandment; hence his counsel in our text. To fear God means to reverence Him, to love Him, to have faith in Him and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and to keep His commandments and be obedient to His will. This is the only thing that can make a man whole and perfect. Without the fear of God, man is nothing. Every child of God is chosen and called to follow Christ. We have been given all we need for life and godliness and have access to the riches of His grace. However, if the foundation of your life is not laid on the fear of God and obedience to His word, your life will become futile and your fellowship with God will not stand. All the material possessions, intelligence, popularity or fame you have will be meaningless. The only thing that can give you fulfilment in this life and the life hereafter is to fear God and obey His commands. It would amount to sin if we fail to follow God’s word which is a revealer of God’s mind to us as recorded in Micah 6:8. Doing His will equals to reverencing Him, because you cannot obey and reverence who you have no regards for. There is assurance of eternal life, strong confidence and divine security (Prov. 14:26-27). What could be richer than abundant life! May God humble our hearts to fulfil this one but all-encompassing duty to fear God! However, no man can fear God except by the help of the Holy Spirit. If you are not yet born again, surrender your heart today so that you can receive the presence of the Holy Spirit who alone can give you the grace and power to do so. Motivational Quote: The fear of God is an antidote to a life of futility and vanity. Prophetic Word: Receive the fear of God that makes the difference in a man’s life, in the name of Jesus. HYMN: The Comforter Has Come 1. O Spread the tidings ’round, Where ever man is found, Where ever human hearts And human woes abound; Let ev’ry Christian tongue proclaim the joyful sound; The Comforter has come! Chorus Holy Ghost from Heav’n, The father’s promise giv’n; O spread the tidings round, wherever man is found The comforter has come 2. The long, long night is past, The morning breaks at last, And hushed the dreadful wail And fury of the blast, As o’er the golden hills the day advances fast! The Comforter has come! 3. Lo, the great King of kings, With healing in His wings, To ev’ry captive soul a full deliv’rance brings; And thro’ the vacant cells the song of triumph rings; The Comforter has come! PRAYER POINTS: MORNING 1. Father, teach me to walk in Your fear, in the name of Jesus. 2. Let the fear of God be the foundation of my decision in life, in the name of Jesus. 3. Father, help to yield myself as a servant to obey Your word, in the name of Jesus. EVENING: 4. My Father, let the Spirit of fear of God be activated in my life afresh, in the name of Jesus. 5. Lord, let every part of my being come in subj e c tion to the obedience of God, in the name of Jesus. 6. My Father, reveal to me any area of my life where my obedience is yet to be complete, in the name of Jesus. 7. Father, grant me the courage to obey You, no matter how difficult, in the name of Jesus. Topic: Dealing with Parental Anger

Fire Scripture
Eph. 4:22-27

MFM Daily Devotional 27 May 2021 Outline

Almost everyone has a tendency to be angry at least once per week. It may be minor frustration with another or being irritated with your kids for not putting some things in the right place.

Some parents live with daily anger and hurt the feelings of their children at times, which may not be repairable. Children usually put such into their mindset and perhaps grow with it. Some parents and their children are in a constant battle of outburst of anger and abusive words.

If you look back into your childhood, you would probably remember being hurt by your father or mother; and every time you think about such, it brings you anger. Anger is a problem for every Christian but sinful anger is what our Maker rejects (Eph. 4:26).

Parental anger sometimes leads to child abuse, divorce, health problems like heart ache, heart attack, high blood pressure, ulcer, etc. Colossians 3:8 enjoins you to put all your anger and abusive speech aside. Similarly, Eph. 4:26 says, “Be ye angry and sin not, let not the sun go down upon your wrath.” Jacob’s anger against his two sons, Simon and Levi, made him to issue curses on them.

Their offences were that they were aware of the rape of their sister, Dinah and manhandling and sale of Joseph into slavery. Don’t be like Jacob. Become like Christ. You will be angry and develop hatred for sin.

You can control your anger by instantly turning it off when it wants to control or overwhelm you. Parental anger has several consequences and we should avoid getting into uncontrollable anger that can lead us to destroy God’s precious gifts to us spiritually or physically.

You will achieve this when you always remember that anger hurts your child. Children of angry parents are less empathetic. The effects of parental anger can continue to impact the adult child on depression, spouse abuse, career and economic achievement

As a parent, God expects you to control your anger. The Holy Spirit is your helper in this regard. Be calm when interacting with your children. Break destructive family legacies around anger.

Feel more prepared to cope with your own anger and that of your children. I pray that God will help you, in Jesus’ name.

Memory verse
Col. 3:21 – “Father, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.”

Motivational Quote
Anger doesn’t solve anything; it builds nothing, but it can destroy everything

Prophetic Word
Every spirit of the old man troubling your life shall be dashed into pieces, in the name of Jesus.

HYMN
Immortal, invisible, God only wise

1. Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
In light inaccessible hid from our eyes,
Most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days, Almighty,
victorious Thy great name we praise.

2. Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light,
Nor wanting, nor wasting, Thou rulest in might;
Thy justice, like mountains, high soaring above
Thy clouds, which are fountains of goodness and love.

3. To all, life Thou givest to both great and small,
In all life Thou livest the true life of all;
We blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree,
And wither and perish but naught changeth Thee.
