God has done His own duty through the redemption of man. The redeemed man or woman (a Christian) also owes God the duty to grow into the image of Christ (Hebrews 9:14). From our Fire Scripture for today (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14), the conclusion of the preacher is that the whole duty of a man is to fear God and obey his commandment. Solomon was an anointed king of Israel, a prophet of God. He was anointed by God to rule over Israel. He can be described as that man that saw it all and had it all. He had fame, prosperity, power, riches, wisdom, yet he died an unfulfilled man. He discovered later in his life that the whole essence of living is to fear God and obey his commandment; hence his counsel in our text. To fear God means to reverence Him, to love Him, to have faith in Him and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and to keep His commandments and be obedient to His will. This is the only thing that can make a man whole and perfect. Without the fear of God, man is nothing. Every child of God is chosen and called to follow Christ. We have been given all we need for life and godliness and have access to the riches of His grace. However, if the foundation of your life is not laid on the fear of God and obedience to His word, your life will become futile and your fellowship with God will not stand. All the material possessions, intelligence, popularity or fame you have will be meaningless. The only thing that can give you fulfilment in this life and the life hereafter is to fear God and obey His commands. It would amount to sin if we fail to follow God’s word which is a revealer of God’s mind to us as recorded in Micah 6:8. Doing His will equals to reverencing Him, because you cannot obey and reverence who you have no regards for. There is assurance of eternal life, strong confidence and divine security (Prov. 14:26-27). What could be richer than abundant life! May God humble our hearts to fulfil this one but all-encompassing duty to fear God! However, no man can fear God except by the help of the Holy Spirit. If you are not yet born again, surrender your heart today so that you can receive the presence of the Holy Spirit who alone can give you the grace and power to do so. Motivational Quote: The fear of God is an antidote to a life of futility and vanity. Prophetic Word: Receive the fear of God that makes the difference in a man’s life, in the name of Jesus. HYMN: The Comforter Has Come 1. O Spread the tidings ’round, Where ever man is found, Where ever human hearts And human woes abound; Let ev’ry Christian tongue proclaim the joyful sound; The Comforter has come! Chorus Holy Ghost from Heav’n, The father’s promise giv’n; O spread the tidings round, wherever man is found The comforter has come 2. The long, long night is past, The morning breaks at last, And hushed the dreadful wail And fury of the blast, As o’er the golden hills the day advances fast! The Comforter has come! 3. Lo, the great King of kings, With healing in His wings, To ev’ry captive soul a full deliv’rance brings; And thro’ the vacant cells the song of triumph rings; The Comforter has come! PRAYER POINTS: MORNING 1. Father, teach me to walk in Your fear, in the name of Jesus. 2. Let the fear of God be the foundation of my decision in life, in the name of Jesus. 3. Father, help to yield myself as a servant to obey Your word, in the name of Jesus. EVENING: 4. My Father, let the Spirit of fear of God be activated in my life afresh, in the name of Jesus. 5. Lord, let every part of my being come in subj e c tion to the obedience of God, in the name of Jesus. 6. My Father, reveal to me any area of my life where my obedience is yet to be complete, in the name of Jesus. 7. Father, grant me the courage to obey You, no matter how difficult, in the name of Jesus. MFM Daily Devotional 5 May 2021 Outline:

Signs and wonders are parts of the heritage of all believers in Christ Jesus. Signs in this instance are the signature of God. Believers are to be followed by signs not sorrow. It also means that believers should possess and manifest the power of God as in Acts 5:12.

The book of Acts of Apostle gives a detailed account of how signs follow believers. We have examples of how the shadow of Peter and the handkerchiefs from the body of Paul healed the sick. There are also several examples in our contemporary time, where signs are manifested through believers.

Our Fire Scripture for today lists five major signs that are to follow believers. They include: casting out devils, speaking with new tongues, and taking up serpents, divine immunity against the poison of enemies and healing the sick. These are all manifestations of signs in the lives of believers, not of unbelievers or doubters.

Faith is a vital key for unlocking the door to the miraculous. Faith is the connection between man and the miracle-working power of God. How do we take delivery of faith? Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. We need to labour in the word of God through reading, studying, meditating, memorising and praying (Rom. 10:17).

These signs will also manifest only by praying in the name of Jesus (Philippians 2:9-10). It is faith in the name of Jesus (Act 3:16) that brings signs and wonders, not our power or our personality. These signs are for those who believe in the name of Jesus.

If you are not yet a believer, then this is another opportunity for you to accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour so that you can enjoy the fullness of these divine blessings.

If you’re a believer, lay claim to your heritage and begin to manifest the signs and wonders of God.

Motivational Quote
Christianity without power is a frustrated religion.

Prophetic Word
Everywhere you go from now, you will leave a blazing trail of signs and wonders, in the name of Jesus.

HYMN – Jesus calls us

1. Jesus calls us; o’er the tumult
Of our life’s wild, restless sea,
Day by day His sweet voice soundeth,
Saying, “Christian, follow Me.”

2. Jesus calls us from the worship
Of the vain world’s golden store,
From each idol that would keep us,
Saying, “Christian, love me more.”

3. In our joys and in our sorrows,
Days of toil and hours of ease,
Still He calls in cares and pleasures,
“Christian, love Me more than these.”

4. Jesus calls us: by Thy mercies,
Saviour, may we hear Thy call,
Give our hearts to Thine obedience,
Serve and love Thee best of all.
