Two vehicles of the agency were also set on fire as the firefighters are currently battling to get rid of the incident.

A witness revealed that members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) better known as Shi’ites who were moving on the streets of Abuja set the sub-station ablaze after the police interrupted their protest.

The protest, which started from NITEL junction at Wuse 2, was obstructed by armed policemen who have cordoned the road heading to the national assembly and three arms zone.

Shots were fired at the protesters as they proceeded toward the Eagle Square.

A reporter was said to be amongst those fired but we could not independently confirm this as at press release.

At least two corpses were recorded at the scene of the attack.

Most of the streets have been deserted as many residents ran to safety.
