Nigerian government responsible for Christians’ killings – CAN

The Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria Osun State chapter,Rev. Elisha Ogundiya, has blamed government for the incessant killings of Christians in the northern part of the country.

Ogundiya said this in Osogbo on Wednesday  in an interview with our correspondent on the sidelines of the programme organised by the Nigerian Union of Journalists  Correspondents’ Chapel, Osun State, to mark the 25th anniversary of the creation of the state.

He said the killings had become so common that lives of Christians were no longer safe either at their homes or in public places.

Ogundiya said, “I will say it is because of the indulgence by the government. The government did not take proactive measures and they are not taking it, that is why these incessant mindless killings have continued especially in the North.

“Government owes the citizens of this country the responsibility to protect wherever they may be. But they are not doing this effectively.

“If security apparatus are in order these killings won’t be happening all the time. Also if those who are killing are well informed, they will stop. God is not happy with any nation shedding the blood of the innocent.”

He said Nigerians needed to repent of this sin and pray to God for forgiveness in order to avoid the wrath of God.
