Open Heaven Sunday 17th January 2021 Devotional By Pastor E.A. Adeboye

TOPIC: MCY: Lust (II)

MEMORISE:
‘Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committed fornication sinneth against his awn body.” – (1 Corinthians 6:18)

READ: Judges 16:4-20 (KJV)
4. And it came to pass afterward, that he loved a woman in the valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah.

5. And the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and said unto her, Entice him, and see wherein his great strength lieth, and by what means we may prevail against him, that we may bind him to afflict him; and we will give thee every one of us eleven hundred pieces of silver.

6. And Delilah said to Samson, Tell me, I pray thee, wherein thy great strength lieth, and wherewith thou mightest be bound to afflict thee.

7. And Samson said unto her, If they bind me with seven green withs that were never dried, then shall I be weak, and be as another man.

8. Then the lords of the Philistines brought up to her seven green withs which had not been dried, and she bound him with them.

9. Now there were men lying in wait, abiding with her in the chamber. And she said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he brake the withs, as a thread of tow is broken when it toucheth the fire. So his strength was not known.

10. And Delilah said unto Samson, Behold, thou hast mocked me, and told me lies; now tell me, I pray thee, wherewith thou mightest be bound.

11. And he said unto her, If they bind me fast with new ropes that never were occupied, then shall I be weak, and be as another man.

12. Delilah therefore took new ropes, and bound him therewith, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And there were liers in wait abiding in the chamber. And he brake them from off his arms like a thread.

13. And Delilah said unto Samson, Hitherto thou hast mocked me, and told me lies; tell me wherewith thou mightest be bound. And he said unto her, If thou weavest the seven locks of my head with the web.

14. And she fastened it with the pin, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awaked out of his sleep, and went away with the pin of the beam, and with the web.

15. And she said unto him, How canst thou say, I love thee, when thine heart is not with me? thou hast mocked me these three times, and hast not told me wherein thy great strength lieth.

16. And it came to pass, when she pressed him daily with her words, and urged him, so that his soul was vexed unto death;

17. That he told her all his heart, and said unto her, There hath not come a razor upon mine head; for I have been a Nazarite unto God from my mother’s womb; if I be shaven, then my strength will go from me, and I shall become weak, and be like any other man.

18. And when Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she sent and called for the lords of the Philistines, saying, Come up this once, for he hath shewed me all his heart. Then the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and brought money in their hand.

19. And she made him sleep upon her knees; and she called for a man, and she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head; and she began to afflict him, and his strength went from him.

20. And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the LORD was departed from him.

Open Heaven Sunday 17th January 2021 Devotional Message:

A hungry and thirsty fellow is one who is desperate for food and water. Have you ever seen someone who has been stranded on a desert for a whole month? If he sees water anywhere, he would do anything, and I mean anything, to drink it. The same applies to a person who has been deprived of food for many days. In the same vein, God expects us to hunger and thirst for righteousness. He expects us to desperately pursue righteousness, Jesus gave a parable in Matthew 13:44-46 that the kingdom of God is like a man who found treasure in a field and went to sell all that he had so he could buy that field and own the treasure. Psalm 63:1 says:
“…My soul thirsts for you, my flesh yearns for You, In a dry and weary land where there is no water.”

You should be willing to give up anything just to remain righteous. The reverse is the case these days; people are very quick to sacrifice their righteousness in order to gain some pleasures of this world.

Don’t deceive yourself with contemporary Christianity. If you are not desperately hungry to live a holy life, you become easy meat for the devil. You need to be desperate enough to cut off your right hand if that hand is going to cause you to sin (Matthew 5:30). In other words, if social media is the means through which immoral thoughts get into your mind, then you must be ready to delete those social media apps from your phone. If you are lusting after your secretary, then you must be ready to let go of such a person. If being a staff in that organisation causes you to stain your garment of holiness, then resign! Only the violent can take the kingdom of God and they must take it by force. Don’t be afraid to be asked why you pursue this Jesus so much. Fear of what people may say will make many lose their righteousness and consequently, the kingdom of God. You must hunger and thirst for righteousness at all times.

Open Heaven Sunday 17th January 2021 Devotional KEY POINT:
Flee every appearance of the lust of the flesh!

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Genesis 34-36

HYMNAL:
HYMN 29 – WHAT CAN WASH AWAY MY SIN?

1. What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

REFRAIN:
Oh! precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow!
No other fount I know,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

2. For my pardon this I see
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
For my cleansing this my plea;
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

3. Nothing can for sin atone,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus:
Naught of good that I have done,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

4. This is all my hope and peace.
Nothing but the blood of Jesus:
This is all my righteousness;
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

MFM Devotional 3rd March 2021 Mountain Top Life Devotional Message By Dr. D.K Olukoya

Topic: The Life of Prayer (1)

Fire Scripture: Luke 18:1

Memory verse: Luke 18:1 – “And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint.”

MFM Devotional 3rd March 2021 Outline

Prayer is talked about more than anything else but practised less than anything else. For the believer, it remains one of the greatest gifts our Lord has given us outside of salvation. It is the expression of human helplessness and insufficiency without God. It is the channel for the realisation and the actualisation of the promises of God.

This means that promises remain unrealised when prayer is not in place in a person’s life In Colossians 4:2, Paul said, “Devote yourselves to prayer” (NASB) or “Continue earnestly in prayer” (NKJV). This means that the believer should continue steadfastly in prayer and persist in it. It carries with it the idea of dedication.

Of the ten times it is used in the New Testament, four of them have to do with being devoted to prayer. In other words, persistence in prayer is not an option for the Christian; it is an order from the Lord Himself. George Muller, known as one of the greatest prayer warriors of all times, had this to say about persistence in prayer: “It is a common temptation of satan to make us give up the reading of the word and prayer when our enjoyment is gone; as if it were of no use to read the scriptures when we do not enjoy them, and as if it were no use to pray when we have no spirit of prayer.

The truth is that, in order to enjoy the word, we ought to continue to read it, and the way to obtain a spirit of prayer is to continue praying. The less we read the word of God, the less we desire to read it, and the less we pray, the less we desire to pray.” Jesus was passionate about His prayer life. It brought Him unmeasured power at the beginning, and kept the flow unbroken and undiminished.

There was no emergency, no difficulty, no necessity, no temptation that would not yield to prayer. Every time we see Jesus praying He was praying with passion. That was because He knew Who it was He was talking to and that prayer to the Father is a powerful thing and not something to take lightly and glibly. Passionate prayer is prayer from the heart not just from the head.

Beloved, it is important to know that relationships are serviced by communication and when we don’t pray, we deprive ourselves of our relationship with God. Therefore, make up your mind to pray always.

Motivational Quote: A prayerful person is one who has realised that he is hopeless and useless without God.

Prophetic Word: I decree upon your Life that the agenda of prayer killers will not prosper over your life, in the name of Jesus.

HYMN – Pray, always pray

1. Pray, always pray;
the Holy Spirit pleads
Within thee all thy daily,
hourly needs.

2. Pray, always pray;
beneath sin’s heaviest load
Prayer sees the blood from Jesus’
side that flow’d.

3. Pray, always pray;
though weary, faint, and lone,
Prayer nestles by the Father’s
sheltering throne.

4. Pray, always pray;
amid the world’s turmoil
Prayer keeps the heart at rest,
and nerves for toil.

5. Pray, always pray;
if joys thy pathway throng,
Prayer drinks with them of springs
that cannot fail.

Open Heaven Wednesday 3rd March 2021 Devotional Guide By Pastor E.A Adeboye

TOPIC: God’s Partner

MEMORISE:
“For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.” – (1 Corinthians 3:9)

READ: Ezekiel 37:1-10 (KJV)
1. The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones,

2. And caused me to pass by them round about; and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry.

3. And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest.

4. Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD.

5. Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live;

6. And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

7. So I prophesied as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.

8. And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above; but there was no breath in them.

9. Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.

10. So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.

Open Heaven Wednesday 3rd March 2021 Devotional MESSAGE:

God loves to partner with people for His work here on earth. When He wanted to deliver the people of Israel from the bondage of the Egyptians, He partnered with Moses. When He wanted to raise dry bones to become an army, He partnered with prophet Ezekiel as we see in today’s Bible reading. The major thing that qualifies you for partnership with God is holiness because He is a holy God and Amos 3:3 says two cannot walk together except  they agree.

Beyond holiness however, one thing has to be clear from the beginning: He is the Senior Partner while you are the junior partner. Being the junior partner means that you have to forget whatever it is that you have achieved and place yourself wholly under His leadership.

Peter was a professional fisherman. He had been fishing since he was a youth. Jesus on the other hand was a carpenter. When Jesus wanted to perform the miracle of a boat-sinking catch and needed Peter to partner with Him He told him to fish at a time when, from experience, Peter knew there would be little or no catch. Peter however put all his experience and qualifications aside to obey the Senior Partner and the result was a catch so great that it filled two boats.

One day, just after I became the General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, the Lord said to me, “My son, you are almost forty years old and forty as you know is considered the age of wisdom”. I said “Yes, Lord” He went on to show me two graphs. One looked like a valley, the other a mountain. He then told me to choose which of the two I wanted. I understood straightaway by the help of the Holy Spirit, so I chose the valley. He said “Very well, son, I am ready to become your partner so that from now, you will be climbing. But for that to happen, everything about you has to reduce to zero.” Before that time, my name plate read ‘Rev. Dr. E.A Adeboye, B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D:  and at the bottom was “General Overseer” God said to me “From now you will be known simply as Pastor Adeboye. All the big titles have to go – the B.Sc., M.Sc.., Ph.D. I am not interested in them.”

If you want God to partner with you, humbly take the position of a junior partner. All your knowledge and achievements have to be put aside. Your obedience to your Senior Partner has to be absolute.

KEY POINT:
God is the Senior Partner you are the junior partner. He instructs, you obey. He leads, you follow.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:Acts 9-10

HYMN 12 – IN CHRIST ALONE MY HOPE IS FOUND

1. In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid Ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand.

2. In Christ alone! Who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
Till on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live.

3. There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

4. No gift in life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life’s first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
Till He returns or calls me home
Here in the love of Christ I’ll stand.

Catholic Daily Mass Reading Wednesday 3 March 2021 Online

Daily Reading for Wednesday March 3, 2021
Reading 1, Jeremiah 18:18-20
Responsorial Psalm, Psalms 31:5-6, 14, 15-16
Gospel, Matthew 20:17-28

18 Then said they, Come and let us devise devices against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us smite him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words.

19 Give heed to me, O Lord, and hearken to the voice of them that contend with me.

20 Shall evil be recompensed for good? for they have digged a pit for my soul. Remember that I stood before thee to speak good for them, and to turn away thy wrath from them.

Psalms 31:5-6, 14, 15-16

Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O Lord God of truth.

I have hated them that regard lying vanities: but I trust in the Lord.

14 But I trusted in thee, O Lord: I said, Thou art my God.

15 My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me.

16 Make thy face to shine upon thy servant: save me for thy mercies’ sake.

Catholic Daily Mass Reading Wednesday 3 March 2021 Online

Matthew 20:17-28

17 And Jesus going up to Jerusalem took the twelve disciples apart in the way, and said unto them,

18 Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death,

19 And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again.

20 Then came to him the mother of Zebedees children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him.

21 And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom.

22 But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able.

23 And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father.

24 And when the ten heard it, they were moved with indignation against the two brethren.

25 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them.

26 But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister;

27 And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:

28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
