Question(s) for Reflection
• Q 1: What does the passage teach about God the Father, or God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
• Q 7: What truth is God revealing to me in this passage?

Scripture Union Daily Guide 11th May 2023 MESSAGE:

From v.2, notice the reason the Priests were asked to put on the garments. Our attires should honour God on all occasions. The colour and other details were determined by God. As believers, we ought to appear beautiful outwardly, yes, but much more, spiritually. We are to be clothed with garments of salvation and the robe of righteousness to honour our God (Psalm 132:9).

Two onyx stones engraved with the names of the twelve tribes of Israel were placed on the shoulder of the garment of Aaron (v.9). This meant that the priest takes the burden of the entire nation on his shoulders as he goes into the holy of holies (Presence of God). Likewise, Christ carries us always as He intercedes for us before His Father (Hebrews 7:25).

The breastpiece was part of the priestly garment, which was for decision-making (v.15). The breastpiece has two significant objects, the Urim and the Thummim meaning “curses” and “perfections”, indicating rejection and approval. They help the priest to determine the Lord’s will for His people (v.30). This provision helped to prevent the Israelites from shipwreck.

Practice/Word Application
Food for thought: What informs your decisions in life? Is the outcome usually in line with God’s will?

• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Oh Lord, help me to truly remain in you so that my decisions will always be in line with your will.

Offer a prayer of faith in line with Lamentations 3:22 ‐ 23
