Scripture Union Daily Guide 13th October 2023 OUTLINE:
Psalm 57 is a soul-stirring confession by David of his trust in God. He knows whom he has believed.
From vs.1-3, what are the requests of David to God? Among other things, David is seeking mercy, safety and refuge. He asks God to fulfil His purpose for him. What do you want God to do for you? Be specific in your prayer requests. Read vs.4-6 and visualise the situation in which David found himself. The picture is a frightening one, with deadly attacks and dangers. In response, David lifted his voice to exalt God (v.5). What an example for us to emulate! Instead of complaining about how big your problems are, keep declaring how big your God is. Our God will turn the scales against the enemy as you keep your eyes on Him. See v.6.
Vs.7-11 represent a resounding affirmation of faith in God. The key elements are;
– our trust in God is well-grounded.
– praise and worship should be hallmarks of our lives.
– We serve a great God.
– there is no end to God’s love and faithfulness.
• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?
