SU DAILY GUIDE FOR TODAY 1ST OCTOBER 2023 MESSAGE:
There are dire consequences when leadership fails, and people become disobedient to God. Go through vs.1-6 and vs.17- 4:1 again and take note of some shocking punishments that await Judah. Compare these to the prophecies that we hear today on our pulpits, radio, and TV stations?
Although Judah was enjoying prosperity in the time of Isaiah, he never hesitated to tell them the consequences of their sins. What were their sins (see vs.8-9 and 13-16)? Their sins were so bad that God compared them to Sodom. Today, we also see, arrogant disregard for God, oppressive practices of greed, injustice, nepotism, and corruption by the leaders and these have become so shamefully accepted by the society they are no longer regarded as sinful.
Many nations are experiencing famine, leadership failures, economic collapse, anarchy, social chaos, revolt and war. Could these be signs of God’s judgment for our national sins?
Take note of vs.10&11. Even amid the collective judgment, God remembers and gives hope of reward to the righteous and assurance of inescapable punishment to the wicked. Cf. 1 Peter 2:9.
Practice/Word Application
Thought: It can be discouraging to see sinners prospering while the righteous are suffering. Take heart because God will soon bring about justice.
