Scripture Union Daily Guide 20th May 2023 MESSAGE:
Believers are people saved by grace through faith in Christ and therefore enjoy peace with God (v.1). This is done by Christ so that we become part of the family of God. This peace is secure and everlasting. Nevertheless, we cannot gain this peace and security on our own. Why? We no longer live in a state of enmity with God so that we live in fear, but rather grow close to God each day through Christ whose death reconciled us to Him.
Paul says we have gained access by faith in Christ “into this grace in which we stand and rejoice in hope of the glory of God” (v.2). Through this relationship with Christ, our future is secure in God’s hands. We live this life assured of victory in our struggles with the enemy (Romans 8:31).
Notice in vs.6-8 what the death of Jesus Christ achieved for us. God arranged for our reconciliation with Him while we were yet sinners and His enemies. Now that we are His children, how glorious will our relationship with Him be in the future?

Prayer for the week
► Pray for brethren who have backslidded that God in His infinite mercy will help them to come back.
► Pray against every spirit of inconsistency that will make them remain in their sin.
► Pray that brethren will go, discover and recover such backsliden brethren.
- Offer a prayer of faith in line with Numbers 14:17

THANK GOD FOR:
► The safety we have in Christ and His word.
► His daily provision, protection, care and love that make us hold our peace in times of danger.
PRAY FOR:
► Faith to keep believing that no weapon forged against us and our family will ever prevail in Jesus name.
► Understanding what is right, just and fair in all our dealings with God, our fellow brethren and the whole world at large.
► Grace to keep our eyes fixed constantly on the Lord as we refuse to be shaken.
PRAY AGAINST:
► Failing to give God the glory for all the past victories, securities and love we had enjoyed.
► Refusing to lie down and sleep, forgetting that God has promised to keep us safe.
