• Q 3: Is there any command for me to obey?

Scripture Union Daily Guide for 20 November 2023 MESSAGE

Notice the testimony of Paul about these two women (v.3). Genuine and mature Christians do have differences. We must not leave room for the devil to operate but resolve them, using the court of the believers instead of civil courts (1 Corinthians 6:1-8; Matthew 18:15-17).

The mind (or heart) is the centre of man’s decision making, his control tower. If your mind tells you that you are sick, you will likely feel terribly ill even though there is nothing physically wrong with you. Depression is sickness of the mind. Paul urges us to, “take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5b, NIV). And Proverbs 4:23 exhorts, “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life” (NLT).

Notice Paul’s three charges in vs.4,6&8-9 so we can fully guard our minds (hearts) and take them captive. To be free of anxiety and falling into depression, let us lay our challenges before the Lord in prayer and hand them over to Him. The benefit of praying instead of worrying is the experience of God’s peace (see v.7).

PRACTICE/WORD APPLICATION
And so? Let Christian virtues flood your mind. Then there will be less room to worry.
