TOPIC:  A True Example of Servant Leadership

Opening Prayer: Grant me depth of insight, revelation and knowledge as I meditate on this passage, O Lord.

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 9:1-14

Question(s) for Reflection
• Q 2: Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?

Scripture Union Daily Guide for 23rd August 2023 MESSAGE:

People were questioning Paul’s authority, but he tells the Corinthians that they at least have no reason to doubt his apostleship. Why (see vs.1-2)?

Paul gave up his rights and became a servant (v.12). Preaching the gospel was his pursuit. He had no personal limitations. You and I must likewise be committed to our God-given mission and serve one another, not ourselves. We must lose our ego for others and accomplish something greater than us! We must get fired up about the Lord’s work and serve Him with gladness!

While, like Paul, Christian ministers must not be money-driven but ready to give up their personal rights and entitlements, we should ensure that these preachers of the gospel receive adequate income to take care of their family. If sinful employers know how to reward their workers, and animals have the right to eat from their labour, how dare we fail to take good care of those who see to our spiritual welfare? And to make that possible, do you regularly give for the support of gospel workers?

How willing are you to let go of the privileges that come along with service in ministry? If you ever recall a moment in life, where lack of benefits on your side caused you to suspend your service for the Lord, be challenged to start living sacrificially.

• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer
Help me, dear Lord, to be a source of encouragement to your servants.
Offer a prayer of faith in line with Psalms 18:2

One-Year Bible Reading Plan
Jeremiah 40‐42.
