TOPIC: As the Lord had Commanded Moses

OPENING PRAYER: Dear Lord, expose me to your truth as I read your word in Jesus name.

SCRIPTURE: Exodus 40:17-38

Question(s) for Reflection
• Q 1: What does the passage teach about God the Father, or God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
• Q 2: Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
• Q 7: What truth is God revealing to me in this passage?

Scripture Union Daily Guide 20 July 2023 Outline:

Moses paid attention to the details of building the tabernacle that God showed him. See vs.1 and 17. God delights in diligent obedience, not sacrifice (1 Samuel 15:22-23). It is important in life to follow God’s instruction with diligence. Ultimate success comes from such. Check how you have responded to God’s command on your life. Do you take lightly what God has committed to your hands? Observe also that Moses finally put in place the altar of burnt offering and offered upon it a burnt offering, thence commencing the formal worship of God in the tabernacle.

“Then the cloud….” (v.34)! This cloud had been with them (Exodus 13:21,22). It is a cloud of glory, which represents the weightiness of the divine (2 Chronicles 5:13,14). It is not an oppressive, crushing weight, but a majestic, transcendent, pleasant, and all-consuming fire of God’s glory. Our heavenly Father’s presence and guidance are available to us today if we would ask and wait for it.

His glory is inseparable from His presence and guidance. Even Moses could not enter the tabernacle because of God’s glorious presence. But we can because Jesus has done for us what Moses could not do. He entered the holy place not made with hands so that we may have the boldness to enter the Most Holy Place (Hebrews 10:19-22).
