TOPIC: God Observes the Corrupt Judges on Earth
OPENING PRAYER: Lord, I pray that you lead me into your truth as I meditate on your word in Jesus name.
SCRIPTURE: Psalms 58:1-11
Question(s) for Reflection
• Q 1: What does the passage teach about God the Father, or God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
Scripture Union Daily Guide 14th October 2023 OUTLINE:
In this psalm, David deals more specifically with those who create an unjust situation in society. The corrupt judges are evil in thought and action, and they are deaf to any plea for justice (vs.1-5). The Psalmist thus appeals to God to break their power and destroy them so that they disappear from human society (vs.6-9). Is the situation different now in our present society?
This is not only for the judiciary, the third arm of government but all in position of authority. All who oppress the poor as it is stated in Matthew 25:40, “In as much as you have done it unto one of these of the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me.” The wicked will receive their fitting judgment from God (vs.10,11).
