A TV presenter in the US has revealed that she suffered a miscarriage during a live broadcast – but she carried on reporting.

Sara Walsh, 39, was almost three months pregnant when she hosted ESPN Live’s Sportscentre show on the road from Alabama.

However, the sports anchor tragically lost the baby while reporting live in Tuscaloosa.

Her husband, baseball player Matt Buschmann, watched from more than 1,000 miles away, texting her details of nearby hospitals during the ad breaks.

Walsh shared her moving story on her Instagram, going into detail about her struggles with failed pregnancies before she finally gave birth to twins in February this year.

‘The road down a dark path began while hosting Sportscenter on the road from Alabama,’ she wrote.
‘I arrived in Tuscaloosa almost three months pregnant. I wouldn’t return the same way.

The juxtaposition of college kids going nuts behind our set, while I was losing a baby on it, was surreal.
‘I was scared, nobody knew I was pregnant, so I did the show while having a miscarriage.

‘On television.

‘My husband had to watch this unfold from more than a thousand miles away, texting me hospital options during commercial breaks.’

Walsh and Buschmann would suffer two more failed pregnancies before eventually finding out they were expecting twins – but by that time, they were too scared to tell people that they were expecting.

‘It was exciting news, but we knew better than to celebrate,’ she continued.

‘So I spent a third straight football season pregnant, strategically picking out clothes and standing at certain angles, using scripts to hide my stomach.’

Walsh was made redundant from ESPN earlier in the month, as she was preparing to return to the station from maternity leave.

Because of that on Sunday – which was Mother’s Day in the US – she spent the day with her new children instead.

Alongside the photo of the two of them in onesies that each read ‘good egg’, she wrote: ‘I wasn’t on TV today, and I’m not sure when I will be again, but instead I got to hang with these two good eggs.

My ONLY good eggs.

‘And I know how lucky I really am.’
