TOPIC: Family Turnaround
MEMORY VERSE: “Turn again our captivity, O LORD, as the streams in the south.” (Psalm 126: 4)
SCRIPTURE READING: JOSHUA 2: 1-24, 6: 22-24
FOCUS: “12. Now therefore, I pray you, swear unto me by the LORD, since I have shewed you kindness, that ye will also shew kindness unto my father’s house, and give me a true token: 13. And that ye will save alive my father, and my mother, and my brethren, and my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death.” (Joshua 2: 12, 13)
Prior to our Focal Scripture, Rahab had been described as a harlot. So her residence would have been known, even amongst her family members, as the residence of a harlot. She had an identity that left much to be desired. Hers was the kind of house that family members would have detested to be in. She was that one that others would loathe to identify with. She was that one that others would not want to associate with.
Notice that Rahab later struck a deal with the spies from Israel, and the deal involved having her entire family saved if they could all turn up in her house. So that same house that would have been avoided in time past became the bastion of hope and safety for the family. The same house they would loathe to identify with, became the house of the salvation of the entire family. The same house with nothing to offer, became the house of safety.
Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: yours may be that house that others loathe and mock, but as surely as the Lord lives, you are about to become that family that others will run to for help. Your family is about to become the bastion of hope for others. Your family is about to become that house where others will connect to for freedom and salvation. Your family is about to be that family that will usher others into their new season.
Rahab may have been written off, but she soon became the hope of the entire family. God used her to rewrite the history of her family. Hear me as I hear the Lord: that member of your family that has been written off, is about to become the carrier of the congratulations of your family. That family member that has previously brought your family shame, will turn around and bring your family fame. It will be called a destiny turnaround.
The days when a member of your family will bring you shame and pain, is over. If there be any that has brought you pain, get set, they are about to bring you joy.
DECLARATION: There is a destiny turnaround in my family; those that brought us shame will being us fame, in Jesus’ name!
