AIT boss Raymond Dokpesi released from detention

Founder of Daar communications, Raymond Dokpesi, has been released from detention, after he was yesterday arrested at Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja.

Raymond Dokpesi was arrested at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja, after returning from a medical trip in Dubai.

A tweet from his TV stationā€™s Twitter handle announced the arrest yesterday and quoted an immigration officer as saying Dokpesi is on the federal governmentā€™s security watchlist and that there were instructions from above to arrest him on arrival.

Sharing the update of his release, Dokpesiā€™s TV stationā€™s Twitter handle tweeted,

UPDATE: Media magnate, Raymond Dokpesi, has been released after over an hour of detention at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja, on Friday afternoon.

Chief @RaymondADokpesi was detained on his return from a medical treatment /operation at the American Hospital Dubai, by a security operative who said he had orders from above.

Reasons for his arrest remain unknown. He is however standing trial for his alleged involvement in the $2.1 billion arms deal scandal involving former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.
