TOPIC: Advice for Meeting Specific Needs

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: James 5:13-16

DAILY QUOTE: “He said “Love…as I have loved you.” We cannot love too much.”— Amy Carmichael

MESSAGE: The Christian life is not always rosy;as long as we are in this world, we,as believersmust face trials, temptations and tribulations. Our reading today tells us how to approach specific needs weencounter as believers: i. Arewe suffering?

The Bible encourages us to pray (v.13). ii. Arewe happy and cheerful?Let us sing psalms and praises (v.13). iii. Are sick (v.14)?We should call the elders (Ministers and other faithful believers) of the church to pray for us. iv. These elders are to anoint such as are sick with oil in the name of the Lord. Such prayer of faith will heal the sick or save the sick if he/she is not a believer.

If the sickness is as a result of sin or unconfessed sin in the life of a believer, he/she is assured of forgiveness (vs. 14-15). v. The importance of confession of sin and prayer by mature believers is paramount (v.16). Such effective fervent prayer, God will surely answer (vs. 16-17).
