Anglican Daily Fountain Devotional 6 March 2020 – Generational Gap

TOPIC: Generational Gap

SCRIPTURE: Judges 2:6-10

MESSAGE: Asad commentary ended the glorious era of Joshua’s leadership of the people of Israel. When Joshua’s generation ended, it was recorded that another generation arose after them who did not know the Lord or the work which He had done for Israel(v.10). The people were said to have served the Lord all the days of Joshua and of the elders who outlived Joshua.

What must have happened that the next generation could not continue from where these leaders stopped? Every successful leader must be able to replicate himself, or he would be seen to have failed in his leadership. While we are at the height of our leadership, we must apply the principle in 2 Timothy 2:2 to raise those that will take over from us.

Anglican Daily Fountain Devotional 6 March 2020 – Joshua was ministering to Moses while he was leading Israel. It was very easy for God to appoint Joshua to continue with the assignment to Moses. Why did Joshua not have someone around him that could understudy him? This created a big vacuum in leadership. The same applies to us today. Who are we training to take over from us? We cannot occupy our current position forever! The earlier we started, the better for us so that there will be no generational gap. Reflect on Psalm 78:1-6.

PRAYER: May you help me dear Lord in my leadership that I may raise another generation after me when I have left the stage.
