Catholic Mass Daily Reading Thursday 21st January 2021

Reading 1, Hebrews 7:25–8:6
Responsorial Psalm, Psalms 40:7-8, 8-9, 10, 17
Gospel, Mark 3:7-12

Reading 1, Hebrews 7:25–8:6
25 It follows, then, that his power to save those who come to God through him is absolute, since he lives for ever to intercede for them.

26 Such is the high priest that met our need, holy, innocent and uncontaminated, set apart from sinners, and raised up above the heavens;

27 he has no need to offer sacrifices every day, as the high priests do, first for their own sins and only then for those of the people; this he did once and for all by offering himself.

28 The Law appoints high priests who are men subject to weakness; but the promise on oath, which came after the Law, appointed the Son who is made perfect for ever.

1 The principal point of all that we have said is that we have a high priest of exactly this kind. He has taken his seat at the right of the throne of divine Majesty in the heavens,

2 and he is the minister of the sanctuary and of the true Tent which the Lord, and not any man, set up.

3 Every high priest is constituted to offer gifts and sacrifices, and so this one too must have something to offer.

4 In fact, if he were on earth, he would not be a priest at all, since there are others who make the offerings laid down by the Law,

5 though these maintain the service only of a model or a reflection of the heavenly realities; just as Moses, when he had the Tent to build, was warned by God who said: See that you work to the design that was shown you on the mountain.

6 As it is, he has been given a ministry as far superior as is the covenant of which he is the mediator, which is founded on better promises.

Responsorial Psalm, Psalms 40:7-8, 8-9, 10, 17
7 then I said, ‘Here I am, I am coming.’ In the scroll of the book it is written of me,

8 my delight is to do your will; your law, my God, is deep in my heart.

9 I proclaimed the saving justice of Yahweh in the great assembly. See, I will not hold my tongue, as you well know.

10 I have not kept your saving justice locked in the depths of my heart, but have spoken of your constancy and saving help. I have made no secret of your faithful and steadfast love, in the great assembly.

17 Poor and needy as I am, the Lord has me in mind. You, my helper, my Saviour, my God, do not delay.

Topic: Money

Today’s Scripture
1 Timothy 6:10, NLT – For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.

Sometimes religion can make people feel that it’s wrong to be blessed with resources. But the Scripture says that Job, a man of the highest integrity and who honored God, was blessed with great wealth and resources. David, who was called a man after God’s own heart, left an inheritance to build the temple in Jerusalem that some scholars say would be over a billion dollars today. Abraham, the father of our faith, was very wealthy in livestock and in silver and gold. God has no problem with you having money as long as the money doesn’t have you. Money is simply a tool. Money can help send your children to college, bless a person in need, and help you accomplish your dream. It’s the love of money that’s a problem. Money shouldn’t be your goal; fulfilling your destiny should be your goal. If you make wealth your goal and live to impress people and show off what you have, your life is going to be miserable.

Prayer for Today
Father, thank You that You are called Jehovah-Jireh, the Lord our Provider. Thank You that You delight in prospering me, and I can use my wealth as a tool for good. Help me to be wise with my finances and keep my focus on fulfilling my destiny. In Jesus Name, Amen.

TOPIC: Be Content (2)

MEMORISE:
“And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.” – (Luke 12:15)

READ: Psalm 37:1-9 (KJV)

MESSAGE: When you complain about what God has not given you, you are being ungrateful to Him for what He has done. Think about it: If He has given you money to rent a one-room apartment, thank Him for that one room and He will give you more. The more you complain and grumble, the further God draws away from you because He detests the company of complainers. When the Israelites complained about a lack of meat despite God’s provision of manna, Numbers 11:1 says:
And when the people complained, it displeased the LORD: and the LORD heard and his anger was kindled; and the fire of the LORD burnt among them, and consumed them that were in the uttermost parts of the camp.

Imagine giving your child a phone and instead of appreciating your gift, he or she complains about it not being internet-enabled then smashes it into pieces. You would certainly be angry. Now, imagine if the child appreciated the phone, then came after a few weeks to say “Daddy/Mummy, I like this phone, but if you don’t mind, I would prefer one that can use the internet”. You would most likely assure the child that you will buy it for him or her soon and then strive to fulfil your promise. Many Christians are short-changing themselves by always complaining. If you appreciate what God has given to you, He will give you more, but if you grumble, then you will get Him angry.

Trust God, He wants the best for you and He will give it to you when the time is right.

Things may not be the way you want now, but trust God and appreciate what He has given to you.

(1 Timothy 6:6) says:
But godliness with contentment is great gain.

Ambition is good but even as you strive for greater heights, learn to be content with where you are and what you have.

He is bringing you to that desired place very soon in Jesus’ name. God bless you.

PRAYER POINT:
Father, help me to trust in Your love and to appreciate all that You have done for me.

Seeds of Destiny Devotional 7th March 2021 Guide By Dr. Paul Enenche

TOPIC: Living in Kingdom Service: A Secret of Power With God

SCRIPTURE: And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. Luke 10:17.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Living in Kingdom service is key to accessing the power of God.

In our earlier studies, we saw the power God was given to us to tread over the devil.

It is one thing to know that God has given you power, and it is another thing altogether to access and function in that power. What then is the secret of accessing this power? What is the key to accessing the power of God?

Today we shall explore one of these secrets to accessing the power of God, and that is:

Living in Kingdom service

The seventy returned from where they went for Kingdom assignment. They returned from evangelism. They returned from the service of preaching the gospel where Jesus Christ sent them. And their return was with power.

Now, this is the point: the promise to give them power to tread over serpents and scorpion in Luke 10:19 was made to them while they were in active service of soul winning. So, to access and manifest the power of God, you must live in Kingdom service.

In Luke chapter ten and in verse one, Jesus sent the seventy to preach the gospel of the Kingdom, and in the seventeenth verse, they returned with the testimony of how the devil bowed before them in His Name. Then He told them something like, “The devil was subject to you because you went out in the Kingdom service of soul winning.”(paraphrased). He gave them power at first to go out and cast out the devil in Luke 10:1-2 and then, they returned with testimonies.

Beloved, make up your mind to live in Kingdom service especially the service of soul winning. There is nothing that touches the Heart of God like touching the lives of people by preaching the message of hope and salvation to them. There is nothing that releases the power of God on you like the assignment of winning souls for God.

Living in Kingdom service is key to accessing the power of God.

Remember this: Living in Kingdom service is key to accessing the power of God.

ASSIGNMENTS:

1. Make up your mind to live in Kingdom service.

2. Be actively involved in the work of soul winning continually.

PRAYER: Lord, I ask that You give me the grace to be sold out to You in devotion and service. I receive the power to witness to the unsaved and win them for You, Lord in Jesus’ Name.

QUOTE: Fight for the establishment of the rule of God in our land. Culled from “MAKING FULL PROOF OF MINISTRY” by Dr Paul Enenche.

DAILY READING: 2 Samuel 23-1 Kings 1

AMAZING FACT: During a single collection trip, a honey bee will visit anywhere from 50 to 100 flowers.

PROPHETIC DECLARATION/WORD: Fresh zeal for the Kingdom assignment of soul winning is released on you in Jesus’ Name.
