TOPIC: Two Great Lights

KEY VERSE
“And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also” (Genesis 1:16).

TEXT: Genesis 1:14-19

14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.

16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.

17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,

18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.

19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

DEEPER LIFE DAILY MANNA 8TH JANUARY 2023 MESSAGE

From an overview provided by NASA Solar System Exploration, the sun is about 93 million miles (150 million kilometres) from the earth. Without its energy, life as we know it would not exist on planet earth. The sun is the heart of our solar system, and its gravity is what keeps every planet and particle in orbit. Humans are yet to launch a successful mission to the sun, but on 21st July 1969, American astronaut, Neil Armstrong became the first person to walk on the surface of the moon.

The passage is a narrative concerning what God created on the fourth day, as found in the book of Genesis. He created lights to lighten the firmament and to separate day from night. He also wanted them for signs and seasons and to measure days and years. He therefore made two great lights. The greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night, including the stars. The earth was thus illuminated in continuation of God’s marvellous work. We praise God for His wisdom in giving us the two great lights that have so serviced humanity since creation.

Whenever the sun comes up to brighten the day, it drives darkness of the night away, energises and illuminates the earth to sustain both plant and animal life. The energy harvested from the sun has been converted into electricity for man’s use, while the moon and the stars lighten up our night and provide the necessary illumination for our safety and security.

Let us appreciate these natural gifts from God and yield our lives in continual service to Him and humanity.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Letting your light so shine is the best way to appreciate God.
