EastEnders character Paul Coker is dead!
With viewers preparing to bid farewell to Ben Mitchell , the BBC One soap completely twisted things around at the end of Monday night’s episode.
Instead of the car mechanic father Phil and brother Ian Beale identifying Ben’s body, the shock ending saw Ben’s boyfriend Paul lying there instead.
Monday’s dramatic episode started with Ian Beale taking a call from the police about an incident involving an individual – that they believed was Ben Mitchell at the time – that was in a’ critical’ condition at the hospital.
Reacting to the call, a deeply concerned Ian then went racing around Albert Square to find his and Ben’s mother, Kathy.
“No, no, I don’t know where she is… and you’re sure?” said a shocked Ian, thinking it was his brother dying. “No, I don’t need a car, I’ll get there.”
Ian then went racing off to tell the Beales and the Mitchells what had happened.
“They phoned my mum because the number is in his phone,” he informed the Walford residents. “They think Ben has been in a fight, they think it’s him. Look it was an accident or something but we’ve got to get to the hospital now. He’s critical.”
“Is Ben going to die?” asked Sharon’s son Denny.
