The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) have recalled striker Amr Warda back to the team after he was kicked out of Africa Cup of Nations squad for ‘sending inappropriate sexual messages’ to several women including an Instagram model.
On Wednesday, the EFA announced that Amr Warda, who plays for Greek club PAOK had been dismissed from the national team for disciplinary reasons.
This was days after Warda found himself accused of cyber sexual harassment by a number of women including Egyptian-British model Merhan Keller who alleged that Warda, 25, had sent her and other women inappropriate and aggressive messages.
On Thursday, Amr Warda issued an apology over the recent events that led to his departure from Egypt’s AFCON2019 squad.
This morning, Ahmed Shobeir, the Egyptian Football Association’s vice-president, announced on his official Facebook page that Amr Warda has officially returned to the squad.
