The two Federal University of Technology, Owerr (FUTO) students that were detained in Bosnia refugee camp after tournament in Croatia are back in Nigeria, safely.
The students identified as Abia Uchenna and Eboh Chinedu were arrested by Croatia Police after they attended an international table tennis competition in Crotia. They were arrested November 18 while taking a walk around the country as tourists before they were arrested for not providing the relevant documents to the Police.
Abia Uchenna, Eboh Chinedu and three other students arrived in Zagreb, capital of Croatia, on November 12, for the fifth world inter-university championships held in the country.
According to reports, after they were arrested, the two were transferred to the country’s Bosnia-Herzegovina border, where Croatian authorities had gathered a group of illegal migrants attempting to cross into the country. They claim they were at gunpoint chased by the Police who asked them to run into the woods.
Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Dabiri-Erewa who assured earlier that the case had been taken up, confirmed their safe return through her social media page where she wrote;
“And yes. They are home safely. The two Nigerians detained in Bosnia camp after a tennis tournament in Croatia.”
