Topic: Stand in the Gap
Ezekiel 22:30, NIV – “I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one.”
Today’s Word with Joel Osteen Sunday 20 December 2020 Devotional
Back in the prophet Ezekiel’s day, cities had walls built around them to protect them from enemies. At times there would be a broken place in the wall, something happened that caused a gap. The enemy could easily come in. So they would pick one of their strongest warriors to stand in the gap until they could get the wall repaired.
People all around us have broken down walls. They may have gotten off course, had a divorce or setback, or fighting an illness, but there’s a breach in their wall. God is asking you, “Will you be that warrior who stands in the gap and won’t let the enemy overtake them? Will you cover them with prayer and speak faith over their lives while they are down?” When you see someone in need, fighting a battle, don’t be passive. Lift them up in prayer, encourage them, let them know that they’re not alone. God will use you to bring healing and restoration.
Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that I can stand in the gap for the people in my life who are living with walls that are broken down. Thank You that I can cover them in prayer and speak words of faith over them. I will make it my mission to help them rebuild their walls. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
