“Jonathan’s 6yrs in Presidency a waste for IJAWS, says Dickson” has taken a new twist

Goodluck Jonathan’s stay at the Aso Rock to some is a blessing to Nigeria, Others an eye-opener to Nigerian Democracy while others a waste to the IJAWS.

It is no news to the comment credit to Governor of Bayelsa state, Hon Seriaki Dickson who reacted to the stay of Jonathan in the villa as a Waste of opportunity to the Ijaws while addressing crowd of people at the Ijaw house during the celebration of Adaka Boro.

Meanwhile, people have read meanings to his speech which has also attracted bantams of words in the social media where so take it as an insult to the former president Goodluck Jonathan while others credited it as a well deserved comment. Below are comments generated on Facebook.

Sam Patrick Dogitimi In as much as I’d love to share your sentiments, permit me to disagree. Goodluck was a President of Nigeria to Nigerians and not Bayelsa to Bayelsans. While Goodluck was performing his duties as the President of Nigeria, it is only Natural that the Governor of Bayelsa should also perform his duties as a governor.

I do not think Goodluck developed AkwaIbom, Calabar, or even Rivers State. Good luck did not develop the FCT or Lagos state. Good luck did not develop Kano. The credit go to the Governors. The sole responsibility of the President is to make sure each state resources gets to them and during Jonathan’s tenure, I do not think Bayelsa State was owed a single time. As a matter of fact, it was then we heard a lot of stories including Indomie cartons transactions.

I cannot verify all of those though but my point is this, in a Federal System, we have division of labour. If it was the President’s duty to develop Bayelsa State, there would be no need for a Governor in Bayelsa State. Let’s s all be honest.

WE WASTED THE YEARS WE CALLED THE SHOTS IN NIGERIA
Dickson may not be the governor we want or expect him to be, but he certainly is not worse or even better than any of the helmsmen that has occupied Creek Haven.
Dickson may have lied or still be lying to Bayelsans, but one thing I know is that both Alamco, GEJ and even Sylva all did same to us.
Dickson may have mounted some people-driven projects just like all the above mentioned leaders had done during their era in power.
(In all this, I do not stand to be corrected).
I don’t like the Ijaw man. He is too sentimental. I don’t like us, because we don’t like who we are: we claim to be the offsprings of Truth, yet we arrogantly stand on truth’s head and even sell falsehood without penitence. How can anyone tell me Ijaw means truth. That is a lie! That etymology is farcical, at least judging from our disposition.
We are not worth living in the gathering of men. We have politicized everything, including a glaring truth. We are gullible and can be tossed to and fro – by every embellishment and captivating news item created by journalists who only care about how to grab our attention.
What makes you (more) morally right to question your representatives than Dickson? What has stopped you from criticizing Dickson? Does he not have he right to question what ought to be questioned? Does he not reserve the right to vent his candid thought on issues bothering his clime?
Dickson, as a Bayelsan cum Ijaw, thinks we wasted our years in Aso Rock. Is it not true? He was even reverent to not mention GEJ. That was utter respect on his part. Rather he boldly said those around the President. Is it not true?
Is it not true that most projects that could have changed the shameful plight of Bayelsans were not undertaken by the very people around the President?
Instead of impelling the President to move for the creation of more local councils in our state, we were concentrating on how the exigencies of our stomach infrastructure would be met.
Instead of prompting GEJ to ensure the Brass LNG becomes functional, we were lobbying for contracts we will not execute, to the letter.
Instead of reminding GEJ that the Bayelsa axis of the East-West road is in an appalling state and that the Brass-Nembe road ought to be finished even before the end of the first tenure, we were busy thinking about second tenure.
Instead of taking GEJ to Ogbia Town and even some coastal towns like Agge, we were busy taking him straight to only Otuoke, and consequently making him forget that Ogbialand is in total blackout, with dead roads begging for a significant reconstruction. And there are many things to harness in the coastal towns, too.
Instead of fighting our enemies who wanted our brother, Andrew Owoye Azazi, out from the corridors of power, we decided to join our enemies in killing him. Alas!
Instead of forgetting the past and forging ahead, we decided to replicate events of the past in fighting our governor.
Instead of staying united in Aso Rock, we allowed the wicked insect of division to infect us with the much-dreaded ailment viz; Pull Him Down syndrome alias PHD.
You may not like Dickson, but, please, do not concoct what he said and create more animosity and bad blood in our land.
You may hate Dickson or be angry with him for whatever reason, whether cogent or not. But the irrefutable truth is that: WE WASTED THE YEARS WE CALLED THE SHOTS IN NIGERIA.
Sometimes, it is good to take the words of a prophet – hook, line and sinker – not necessarily because you like him, or because he has always been right, but because you also know, and are convinced, deep within you, that his words are nothing but the truth.
If after all these years, we still don’t want to dispel this hydra-headed monster called PHD, then, please permit me to say that, we are the most unteachable, irresponsible, and unremorseful set of people on the face of the earth.
May God help the Ijaw Nation.
Egberi fa!
