Just In: In Every Igbo Man, There Is Biafra – MASSOB

SOUTH-EAST NIGERIA – Leader of Biafra Independence Movement/Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra, BIM/MASSOB, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike has assured the international community that a sovereign Biafran nation, when established, will uphold all the laws and conventions of the United Nations, UN.

Uwazuruike said that “having denounced our Nigerian nationality since November 1, 1999, our people do not want to continue to be part of Nigeria because it was as a result of this slavery, corruption, poverty, marginalization, inequality and instability that the civil war of 1967-1970 was fought.”

In a press statement signed on his behalf by the Biafra Director of Information, Mazi Chris Mocha, Uwazuruike contended that  it was not in the interest of Nigerians and the international community to have such a prolonged civil war in which over 2 million innocent lives were lost, adding that such war could have been avoided by granting self-rule to all the national units in Nigeria of which Biafra is one.

Restating his resolve to actualize Biafra as an independent nation, Uwazuruike maintained that  granting of Biafran independence from Nigeria is for the good of all the ethnic nationalities in the country.

“I am confident that Biafra can never be wished away, because in every Igbo man, there is Biafra”, Uwazuruike stated, adding, “If I will not get Biafra, I wouldn’t have come out to start talking about it in the first place and the non-violence method which I understudied for years in India would be defeated”.

He recalled that he had in November 1, 1999 internationalized the struggle and recalled that he applied to the United Nations secretary General, Mr. Koffi Anan then to among other things take a critical look at the fact that the people of Biafra, consisting of the five Igbo speaking states and with Large populations in Rivers, Delta and Cross river states and numbering about 40 million people humbly seek to be admitted, registered or in the alternative be treated as an unregistered nation in any of the organs of the world body.
