MFM Daily Devotional 29 May 2021 – Love for God and Man (1)

God has done His own duty through the redemption of man. The redeemed man or woman (a Christian) also owes God the duty to grow into the image of Christ (Hebrews 9:14). From our Fire Scripture for today (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14), the conclusion of the preacher is that the whole duty of a man is to fear God and obey his commandment. Solomon was an anointed king of Israel, a prophet of God. He was anointed by God to rule over Israel. He can be described as that man that saw it all and had it all. He had fame, prosperity, power, riches, wisdom, yet he died an unfulfilled man. He discovered later in his life that the whole essence of living is to fear God and obey his commandment; hence his counsel in our text. To fear God means to reverence Him, to love Him, to have faith in Him and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and to keep His commandments and be obedient to His will. This is the only thing that can make a man whole and perfect. Without the fear of God, man is nothing. Every child of God is chosen and called to follow Christ. We have been given all we need for life and godliness and have access to the riches of His grace. However, if the foundation of your life is not laid on the fear of God and obedience to His word, your life will become futile and your fellowship with God will not stand. All the material possessions, intelligence, popularity or fame you have will be meaningless. The only thing that can give you fulfilment in this life and the life hereafter is to fear God and obey His commands. It would amount to sin if we fail to follow God’s word which is a revealer of God’s mind to us as recorded in Micah 6:8. Doing His will equals to reverencing Him, because you cannot obey and reverence who you have no regards for. There is assurance of eternal life, strong confidence and divine security (Prov. 14:26-27). What could be richer than abundant life! May God humble our hearts to fulfil this one but all-encompassing duty to fear God! However, no man can fear God except by the help of the Holy Spirit. If you are not yet born again, surrender your heart today so that you can receive the presence of the Holy Spirit who alone can give you the grace and power to do so. Motivational Quote: The fear of God is an antidote to a life of futility and vanity. Prophetic Word: Receive the fear of God that makes the difference in a man’s life, in the name of Jesus. HYMN: The Comforter Has Come 1. O Spread the tidings ’round, Where ever man is found, Where ever human hearts And human woes abound; Let ev’ry Christian tongue proclaim the joyful sound; The Comforter has come! Chorus Holy Ghost from Heav’n, The father’s promise giv’n; O spread the tidings round, wherever man is found The comforter has come 2. The long, long night is past, The morning breaks at last, And hushed the dreadful wail And fury of the blast, As o’er the golden hills the day advances fast! The Comforter has come! 3. Lo, the great King of kings, With healing in His wings, To ev’ry captive soul a full deliv’rance brings; And thro’ the vacant cells the song of triumph rings; The Comforter has come! PRAYER POINTS: MORNING 1. Father, teach me to walk in Your fear, in the name of Jesus. 2. Let the fear of God be the foundation of my decision in life, in the name of Jesus. 3. Father, help to yield myself as a servant to obey Your word, in the name of Jesus. EVENING: 4. My Father, let the Spirit of fear of God be activated in my life afresh, in the name of Jesus. 5. Lord, let every part of my being come in subj e c tion to the obedience of God, in the name of Jesus. 6. My Father, reveal to me any area of my life where my obedience is yet to be complete, in the name of Jesus. 7. Father, grant me the courage to obey You, no matter how difficult, in the name of Jesus. Fire Scripture
Mark 12:28 -33

MFM Daily Devotional 29 May 2021 Outline

The greatest commandment of all is love. Love is the greatest identity of a believer (John 13:35).There are three kinds of love, the God kind of love (Agape),love between husband and wife(Eros) and Love between friend and acquaintances (Phileos).

The kind of love being referred to here is Agape, which means putting others first. This kind of love emanates from a life of the Spirit (Galatian 5:22). One of the scribes asked Jesus in Mark 12:28 a question. He said, “Master, which is the greatest commandment?”

The Lord replied with two answers: “And thou shall love the Lord…, this is the first commandment and the secondthou shall love thy neighbor as thyself.” There is none other commandment greater than these. Love is the greatest commandment upon which other commandments stand.

What does it means to love God with all your heart, and with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength? It means loving God with all that you have. This kind of love is more of doing than feeling. It requires that you demonstrate your love in some practical way. How do you demonstrate and manifest this kind of love?

Exodus 20:1-7 gives practical examples that were also corroborated in the New Testament. Your love for God will manifest in your loyalty or allegiance to God and your separation or dedication unto him (Roman 12:1) Beloved, God first loved you and me. He demonstrated His love to us while we are yet a sinner. God is love.

Do you really love God? Where resides your loyalty? Are you fully committed to Him? Are you part of people that bring disrepute to His name? Repent today and embrace His love. Repent and rededicate your life if you’re his son or daughter. If you are not, surrender your life to Him and reciprocate your love to God.

Memory verse
Mark 12:30 -And thou shall love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

Motivational Quote
The love of God is the foundation of life.

Prophetic Word
Receive the grace to be rooted and grounded in the love of God, in the name of Jesus.

HYMN
Amazing grace!

1. Amazing grace! How sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

2. ‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed!

3. Thro’ many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
‘Tis grace hath bro’t me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.

4. When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we first begun.
