Scripture Union Daily Guide 15th February 2023 MESSAGE
The journey of the Israelites from Egypt to the promised land can be likened to the Christians’ life journey from being saved and freed from the slavery of sin and Satan through the wilderness of this world; till we see the promised heaven (John 14:2-3).
God led them not through the usual route rather through the wilderness towards the Red Sea. See v.17 for His reasons for this choice. Are there life situation(s) capable of making you return to the world after being saved? See also Romans 8:35-39. Note in v.18 that as Children of God we ought to be battle ready always. Why? Read Ephesians 6:10-13 and 1 Peter 5:8,9.
Moses did not forget an old prophetic instruction given by Joseph (v.19) in Genesis 50:25-26. Joseph believed God will surely deliver His people out of Egypt (Hebrews 11:22). How much do you trust God’s ability to save despite prevailing conditions? Also, when handling God’s assignment, we need to be thorough, leaving no stone unturned. God’s presence was evident, as physically revealed by the pillar of cloud by day and pillar of fire by night (vs.21-22).
Can you see the benefits of following God’s instructions (14:1-9)? Moses obeyed God completely as He unfolds His plan.
