Scripture Union Daily Guide 22nd October 2022
Welcome to Scripture Union Daily Guide 22nd October 2022 Message for Today. Remember, For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. – Hebrews 4:12

TOPIC: God is faithful

OPENING PRAYER: May my heart, O Lord, be receptive to your word as I meditate on it.

SCRIPTURE: 2 Chronicles 9:13‐31

Scripture Union Daily Guide 22nd October 2022 Message

Observe that the value people usually attach to gold did not hinder Solomon from using it lavishly in furnishing the temple and his palace (vs.15‐20). How does that challenge us in our service to God? God deserves the best of our life, time and our resources because He is the Giver of everything. We must, therefore, honour Him with our resources.

Read vs.22‐28 again and compare these with the promise God made to Solomon in 1:11‐12. What does this teach us about God? The extensive material prosperity and glory of Solomon was a testimony to the faithfulness of God. Our God is a Promise‐keeper. He will do whatever He says. Take note however, that salvation is a greater blessing than material things (Matthew 19:16‐21).

Though we need material blessings to live and serve God, we should not be preoccupied with the quest to accumulate material possessions at the expense of our souls (Matthew 16:26). Our salvation is more valuable than all that the world can offer (1 Peter 1:3‐4).
