TOPIC: What God Does For Those Who Trust In Him

OPENING PRAYER: May the meditation of my heart be acceptable unto you, O Lord as I read from your word.

SCRIPTURE: 2 Chronicles 13:1‐14:1

Scripture Union Daily Guide 26th October 2022 MESSAGE

Looking at this story from a human perspective and the facts available, Jeroboam should have won the battle. But he lost it, though he had a larger troop (v.3) and better military strategy (v.13). Why? Jeroboam and his people had forsaken the Lord and were trusting in idols and their military resources (vs.8‐9). On the contrary, Abijah and his people, with smaller troop won the battle because they trusted in the Lord (vs.16‐18).

That is what God does for those who trust in Him. Read vs.4‐5, 10‐12 and 14‐15 again carefully and identify other factors that helped the people of Judah to gain victory. In our journey of life, we are also constantly in battle against the triple evils of self, sin, and Satan.

Whether we will win or lose the battle of life depends on whom and what we trust. Without God’s help, our best effort will always fail. Just like one of our hymns says, “The arm of flesh will fail you. You dare not trust your own.” But if we put our trust in God and the finished work of Christ, we can be sure of daily victory (Romans 8:37).

• Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
• What truth is God revealing to me in this passage?

Practice/Word Application
What next? Commit your life to God afresh with whatever challenges and battle you may be facing right now.

• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?
