SU DAILY GUIDE FOR 27TH OCTOBER 2022 MESSAGE

When God gives us unprecedented period of peace and prosperity, what do we do with it? Whereas some of us misuse such opportunity on frivolities and even engage in unhelpful activities, Asa made good use of the ten years of national peace that God gave Judah (v.1).

He carried out spiritual reforms (vs.3‐5; 1 Kings 15:12‐13) and built the defence system of the nation (vs.6‐8), realising that it is in the time of peace that people may prepare for war. Read vs.9‐11 again. Note that in spite of Judah’s faithfulness to God, their fortified cities and well‐trained army, Zerah was still able to attack them. But rather than rely on his military might, Asa turned to the Lord for help (v.11).

That we are serving God faithfully does not immune us against the troubles of life. But in times of distress, we can rely on God’s ability to save us from our troubles, no matter how grievous they may look (vs.12‐15). What lesson can we learn from Asa in vs.2&4 as we pray for revival in our land?
